5 Things You Need to Know About Local Moving

This video will help you better understand what it means to be making a “Local” move. Here are the 5 things you need to know:

  1. A move that stays within one state and does not cross state lines is considered a Local move, no matter how far your move travels.
  2. A Local move is usually charged using an hourly rate, with a minimum amount of hours you’re required to pay for.
  3. Local movers are regulated by the state they operate in and need to obtain a license from their state’s moving authority. Just be careful, because not every state requires their movers to have a license.
  4. A Local move will typically take place on a single day. The main exception would be for a Local move that travels a long distance – like moving from Northern California to Southern California.
  5. If you’re moving a short distance, you may want to consider moving a few easy items yourself to save on the hourly cost of your movers.
